- 4–5 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup maida (all-purpose flour)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
- 3/4 cup water (approximately)
- 3–4 bags Lays chips, crushed
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Slice onions into thick rings and separate them carefully
- In a bowl, mix maida, salt, red chili powder, and haldi
- Gradually add water to make a thick slurry that coats well
- Crush Lays chips into coarse crumbs, keeping some texture
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) for deep frying
- Dip each onion ring in the spicy slurry, coating completely
- Roll the coated ring in crushed Lays chips, pressing gently
- Carefully drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy
- Remove and drain on paper towels
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy

- Don’t make the batter too thin or the coating won’t stick properly
