Description

Crispy and flavorful street style fried chicken with a perfect golden coating, marinated in aromatic spices and served with fresh green chutney. This homemade version delivers that authentic street food experience with tender, juicy chicken and an incredibly satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 boneless chicken thigh pieces
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt (for marination)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons red chili sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tablespoon chicken masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 34 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece ginger
  • 23 green chilies
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for chutney)
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with milk, lemon juice, black pepper, chili flakes, salt, ginger garlic powder, and red chili sauce. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, chicken masala, and salt to prepare the coating mixture.
  3. For the green chutney, blend fresh coriander leaves, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and salt with a little water until smooth. Set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Remove chicken from marinade and coat each piece thoroughly with the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure coating sticks.
  6. Carefully lower the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry for 6-8 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds while hot.
  9. Serve immediately with fresh green chutney.

Notes

  • Chicken thigh pieces work best as they remain juicy and tender
  • Marinating for longer (up to 2 hours) will enhance flavor
  • Maintain oil temperature to ensure even cooking and prevent soggy coating
  • Double coating can be done for extra crunch if desired
  • Green chutney can be stored in refrigerator for up to 3 days
  • Serve immediately while hot for best texture
