- 1 cup warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out dough into a rectangle and cut into strips.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use warm (not hot) water to activate yeast properly.
- Don’t skip the rising time for fluffy breadsticks.
- For extra flavor, brush with more melted butter after baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
