Description

Crispy paneer fingers coated with crushed cornflakes – golden and crunchy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. These irresistible vegetarian snacks are perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or evening treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g fresh paneer, cut into finger-sized strips
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
  • 1/2 tsp jeera powder (cumin powder)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup maida (all-purpose flour)
  • 1/4 tsp haldi for slurry
  • Water as needed for slurry
  • 2 cups cornflakes, crushed
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Cut paneer into finger-sized strips and marinate with red chilli powder, haldi, jeera powder, black pepper powder, and ginger-garlic paste for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare coating slurry by mixing maida, haldi, and water to form a smooth, thick batter.
  3. Crush cornflakes and spread on a plate for coating.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  5. Dip each marinated paneer strip in the slurry, ensuring it’s well coated.
  6. Roll the coated paneer in crushed cornflakes, pressing gently to help them stick.
  7. Carefully place in hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup.

Notes

  • Don’t skip the marination time – it’s crucial for flavor penetration
  • Maintain medium heat while frying to ensure even cooking without burning the coating
  • Press cornflakes gently onto paneer to ensure good adhesion
  • These stay crispy for hours and taste good at room temperature
  • Perfect for kids’ lunchboxes and party appetizers
  • Adjust spice levels according to preference
