Description

Homemade chicken nuggets and fries are the ultimate comfort food that’s crispy, golden, and delicious. This easy recipe lets you control the ingredients for a healthier version of the classic takeout favorite that both kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • Dipping sauces (ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey mustard)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or skillet.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Dip chicken pieces into flour, then eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry the chicken nuggets in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. For the fries, boil the cut potatoes in salted water for a few minutes, then drain and fry in hot oil until crispy.
  6. Serve the chicken nuggets and fries with your choice of dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double coat the chicken by dipping it in the flour and egg again before coating it in breadcrumbs.
  • Experiment with seasonings in the breadcrumbs, such as garlic powder or paprika, for added flavor.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to keep the nuggets from being greasy.
  • You can use sweet potatoes for the fries as a healthier alternative.
  • Nuggets can be baked instead of fried at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
