Description
Crispy golden bread pockets filled with spiced marinated chicken and melted cheese, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection. These indulgent comfort food treats are perfect as snacks or appetizers.

- 500g chicken breast – cut into small pieces
- 1 large onion – finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper – finely chopped
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp chicken masala
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp fresh cream
- 8–10 bread slices (edges trimmed)
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 2 eggs (for coating)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (for coating)
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with onions, bell peppers, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, black pepper, ginger-garlic powder, salt, and chicken masala. Mix well and marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat butter in a pan and fry the marinated chicken until fully cooked and tender.
- Add fresh cream to the cooked chicken and mix well. Let it cool slightly.
- Flatten the bread slices with a rolling pin after trimming edges.
- Place a spoonful of chicken mixture in the center of each bread slice and top with grated cheese.
- Fold the bread over the filling and seal the edges firmly by pressing with fingers or a fork.
- Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl and spread breadcrumbs on a plate.
- Dip each sealed pocket in beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil to medium temperature and deep fry the pockets until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with tomato sauce or mayonnaise.
Notes
- Make sure to seal the bread edges properly to prevent filling from leaking during frying
- Don’t overfill the pockets as it makes sealing difficult
- Maintain medium heat while frying to ensure even cooking without burning
- Let marinated chicken rest for at least 30 minutes for better flavor
- Serve immediately while cheese is still melted and pockets are crispy
- Can be served with mint chutney, ketchup, or mayonnaise
